Flying an FPV drone without a spotter

Published on
[Translate to English:] FPV-Drohne DMO Versicherung

According to the rules of the open category, a spotter—an airspace observer—must always be present with the pilot during drone flights using first-person view (FPV) goggles. The spotter must keep the drone in direct view at all times and alert the pilot to any potential hazards.

Benefit for private DMO customers

If you are a resident of Germany, you are permitted to conduct FPV flights up to a height of 30 meters even without a spotter, as you are allowed to fly in accordance with association rules.

With us, FPV pilots are fully covered by liability insurance, and upon request, we can also handle your registration with the LBA for you—quickly and affordably.
