Austrian aviation law expressly permits personal drone liability insurance

The amendment to the Aviation Act (LFG), published in the Federal Law Gazette BGBl. I No. 80/2026 point 23, now clarifies in § 24j. (3) that

"instead of liability insurance for each individual unmanned aircraft, a blanket liability insurance policy may be taken out to cover all unmanned aircraft operated by a single operator." This applies to both the "open" and "specific" categories.

Our liability insurance for drone and model aircraft operators is available to individuals and companies based in the EU. By covering both fault-based and strict liability and providing a guaranteed minimum coverage of 750,000 SDR per aircraft and incident it fully complies with European regulations under EU Regulation 785/2004. Austrian pilots are also comprehensively protected.
