new rules for drone flights at German airports

New procedures for drone flights near airports will take effect on August 6, 2026.

DFS (German Air Traffic Control) has published notice regarding UAS flights in this context. In addition to the distance and altitude rules outlined therein, the requirements and conditions set out in NfL (Notices to Airmen) 2026-1-3960 and 2026-1-3961 must also be observed.

Passenger airports are highly sensitive areas requiring the utmost care, caution and consideration from everyone involved. Therefore, please make sure to thoroughly familiarize yourself with the applicable rules and—in case of doubt—decide not to fly near an airport.
